Use of a single O ring is limited in it's scope for restoration as the only
method of restoration, but, there are various reasons why it has a place in the
restoration process. They are:
-
Use as night time device, some have the
thoughts that by using a single ring during the night the erections that
occur naturally will help with restoration. It can be debated that the
effectiveness of this may not be valid as an erection does not last long
enough to encourage new skin cell growth. It may however be the case
that the gentle tension placed on the skin coupled with the higher but
shorter periods of tension given during night time erections may together be
sufficient to help restoration. In any case it is convenient and as is
said "every little helps". Using this method at night can be
in place of tape provided that you have sufficient skin as if you do not any
erections will cause pain and detract from all important sleep. If you
do have sufficient skin to acomodate a ring it is easy to remove and urinate
at night without becoming fully awake, in other words quick and easy to
remove, urinate, replace and get back to sleep.
-
Maintain coverage, an easy way to
maintain coverage either during the day or night without the need to fiddle
with tape or cumbersome devices. You may be going out or in company so
want something quick and easy in the toilet, yet, need to maintain coverage
as you want to continue de-keritinising the glans.
-
Rest from X taping or ring taping, the
use of a single ring can give a rest from adhesives of taping to allow the
skin to recover if becoming tender or sore but still maintaining coverage of
the glans.
-
As a starting point when there is
sufficient skin to use one ring and you intend to add more rings as the skin
expands.
Method
No complication here as it is simply a question of
putting on a single ring and adjusting the skin to be comfortable and likely to
stay on.
There is one point that must be observed and that is
a question of the size of ring to use which you should consider as:
 |
The ring should not be so small that it
constricts the blood flow to the skin beyond the ring. |
 |
Ring size should be of a size that will not
allow the glans to slip through the ring to emerge inside the ring.
This is not so critical during the daytime use but absolutely critical for
night use as blood flow to the glans may be seriously cut off. |
 |
The size of ring that may sit comfortably one
day may not the next so you may need to go up or down a size on a daily or
weekly basis. This seems to be due to various factors and may be
temperature, rate of expansion, blood flow, sweat, and anything I have not
thought of. |
 |
Are you to use a keeper or not? the insertion of
any such keeper or plug be it purpose made or of cloth you must make
allowances so not to restrict blood flow to the skin. |
